About Us

Magic Round About Vintage is a brand new company created by me, Melanie, based in Royal Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands.

Whilst enjoying a professional occupation for many years, I also renovated two houses, one Victorian and one Edwardian, during which time I learned an awful lot about the beautiful furniture, china and linens which were used to furnish the homes of the day.

Now I have decided to utilise my knowledge, skills and network of contacts to create a new business which hopefully will enable more people to enjoy the pleasures of a bygone age that so fondly touch my heart.

As my business evolves, so does this website so please bear with me whilst the various sections are growing.

Magic Round About Vintage China Hire aims to provide an Afternoon Tea experience that you and your guests will not forget in a hurry, thus creating a new round of nostalgia.
Our tasteful service is available for weddings, civil ceremonies, christening and naming celebrations, church fundraisers, hen parties, afternoon teas of any description, funerals etc. We also have some dinnerware to cater for intimate dinners for two or whole family dinner occasions such as Christmas and New Year.
Our china collection comprises matched and mismatched sets from some of the most well known and best, English Staffordshire china manufacturers, Colclough, Royal Vale, Richmond, Royal Albert, Duchess, Paragon, Royal Staffordshire, Ridgway, Aynsley, Tuscan and Windsor to name but a few.

I thoroughly support the idea of  reusing and recycling quality products that still have a good life left in them. Glassware, china and linens from years ago can remain as beautiful today as they were when they were made simply because the owners put them away for “best” which actually meant that they were never used.
I have collected together many such items in one place to make it easier for you or your loved ones to create that all round vintage chic by dressing your home (or theirs!) with genuine vintage (rather than "vintage style") china, cutlery, glassware, table linen, bed linen and repairing some of your best loved heirlooms with vintage haberdashery. At Magic Round About Vintage Home we take just as much care in selecting our items for sale as we do for our hire items. We pride ourselves on purchasing every item individually and checking its provenance to ensure that it is genuine.

Recently we have been lucky enough to be able to obtain a small number of genuine vintage Nottingham lace panels from a lace mill which closed at the turn of this century but had stocks of lace panels in brown paper from the 1920's still unused. We continue to search for unused vintage items anywhere we can in the British Isles.      We also stock a limited range of discontinued fabrics from quality designers. As these are in short supply, it is always wise to purchase sufficient to complete your project at one time.

Since the linens that we sell are only the finest quality linen and pure 100% cotton from the mills of England, Scotland and Ireland, they are very hard wearing and will provide many years of satisfactory service, they do however tend to be heavier than modern day textiles made from synthetic man made fibres. Our gorgeous lace and embroidered cotton linens and textiles are best ironed when wet with a hot dry iron whilst they are fresh from the washing machine so that ironing is easier, this also provides that freshly laundered look and helps the cloths to drape more elegantly, creating a pleasing vintage look to the eye.

Whether it is China Hire or Vintage Home accessories that you require, I hope that you find something here to enrich your quality of life and don't forget to check if you qualify for any of our China Hire discounts and mention it when booking.

Wishing you a lovely day and thank you for reading this.
Very best wishes,
