Sheet Shams

Sheet shams were used to enhance the beauty of the bed in the days when a maid would prepare the bed each day. The bed is made with an ordinary plain sheet and the sheet sham is tucked in under the folded back top sheet so that it looks as though your sheet is beautifully embroidered. The sham would be removed at night by the maid who would then replace it again in the morning, thus ensuring that the bedroom always looked elegant during the day.
Sheet shams impart that extra special vintage look to spare bedrooms and may also be used to great effect even when combined with modern quilt covers.
